Conservation
At Manor Farm we want all our
visitors to enjoy the countryside and get the most from their activities. But we
also want our visitors tomorrow – and for generations to come – to enjoy this
wonderful rural setting as well.
That's why we follow a strong
policy of promoting natural diversity across the estate combining farming, event
activities and conservation work throughout all our grounds.
You'll see the results of this
policy for yourself. Our countryside management practice includes leaving grass
strips around arable fields, rotational hedgerow trimming, ditch management and
low-impact treatment of pasture land – all of which help the UK's native song
birds thrive and increase in number. You'll also see we've planted new trees,
cultivated woodlands and created over a mile of new hedgerows. Our farming
practices are influenced by our participation in the Department of the
Environment sponsored Countryside Stewardship Scheme which actively increases
native flora and fauna.
If you want to know more about
Manor Farm's countryside as well as viewing some of our active conservation
work, be sure to mention it to your host when you arrive. We'll be delighted to
explain more and show you around.
